Top Ten - Nash's Next Car: Number 9!

Welcome back to our latest feature - Top Ten - Nash's Next Car!

To summarize, we've heard that Lakehill United defender and all around funny guy, Brian Nash, is in the market for a new vehicle.  We thought it would be fun to help him decide what to purchase right here on LakehillUnited.Blogspot.

So far, we have only had the #10 spot filled by the Austin-Healey Sprite Mk1 but tonight we are bringing you...

Nash's Next Car #9 - the Griswold Family Station Wagon

Nash - the Clark Griswold of United

Now we at LakehillUnited.Blogspot know that Nash is an honest-to-goodness family man and nothing says family like the Wagon Queen Family Truckster [aka the Griswold Family Station Wagon].

We can see him now, hawked up on energy drinks, loading up the family for a marathon drive to Wally World.  Along the way, hi-jinx and wacky shenanigans ensue.

Stay tuned over the next few days for car #8.  Also, we hear Holla is the Victoria Stella Artois pouring draught master - but that story will also have to wait...at least for the video.

NEW FEATURE! Top Ten - Nash's Next Car!

The editors of LakehillUnited.Blogspot have decided to start a new feature which will run over the next few weeks [it's a top ten list if you haven't guessed].

We've heard that Lakehill United defender and all around funny guy, Brian Nash, is in the market for a new vehicle.  We thought it would be fun to help him decide what to purchase right here on LakehillUnited.Blogspot.

So starting tonight, and running until we have ten entries [hence the top ten list], we're going to count down what we think Nash's next vehicle should be.

Before we start with the number 10, a couple rules:

  1. We're assuming money is not an object.
  2. We're also assuming that Nash can drive.
So, drumroll please, let us introduce....

Nash's Next Car #10 - the Austin-Healey Sprite Mk1

The Sprite Mk1 - look at those peepers

Ok, we understand that you probably think that this is a lame suggestion but let us put it this way:
  1. The car is tiny.  We'd love to see the 6'2" big man trying to get behind the wheel.
  2. Old British dudes love these cars and we'd love to see Nash hanging with that crowd.  Can you imagine him whipping past the Blethering Place in a hat like the one in the picture above - awesome.
  3. Is it dogs that look like their owners and vice versa or is it cars?  If it is the latter, then the mug on this fifties convertible screams Nash.  Look at that thing - FANTASTIC!
Stay tuned over the next few days for the #9 spot in Nash's Next Car!

Decent Result on First Showing - 1-1 in First Pre-Season Friendly for United

Fielding a weakened side at Lochside Park on Monday, United completed their first 90 minutes of the pre-season with a friendly against Cordova Bay.

United had just 13 available for the evening game and fielded a 4-4-2 against a massive CB Team.

It was the home team that struck first with a weak deflection causing veteran goalkeeper Mike "I Got This From My Doctor" Peters to be caught flat-footed at his near post early in the first half.

United managed to settle after that but had difficulty controlling the ball in the middle of the park as CB fielded 3 central midfielders.  Sam "Chiu" Yager and Brian "B-Boy" Nash did their best to get a handle on the game while Mike "Just for Men" Moore and Ryan "Bigman" Braun steadied us at the back.

Fitness and rustiness were an issue this early in the pre-season and United had a few errant balls over the top, but overall they coped with what CB had to offer.

Before halftime, United had a goal of their own.  Chris "This Is my Goalface" Woodcock burst through the centre of the park only to be ruthlessly taken down in the box by the CB centreback.  Up stepped wily vet Joe "It's a European Handbag" Ventura to calmly slot home the PK.

 Joe and his Handbag
After the break, the game pretty much stayed the same with neither team able to make the breakthrough.  Woodcock came close in the dying moments only to be denied by the inside of the post after some good work by Jer "You Mean a Lot to Me" Roberg.

In the end, not a bad result as many of the players shake off the cobwebs.  Coaches Holla, Butch, and Manager Rimek have much to think about as the season get's closer.

Reminder - next practice is Thursday at 8pm at the Foot - Boots on for 7:45.

One More Shout Out: Good Luck to the new Wives of Lakehill United!

LakehillUnited.Blogspot would like to offer our hearty congratulations to the two newest additions to the Lakehill United family.

Over the last two weeks, not one, but two United players have tied the knot with their long standing girlfriends (now wives).

Congratulations to Sam and Sarah Yager and Kielan and Brianna Hrasky!  Good luck ladies, you got yourselves a couple of firecrackers there!

Hrasky - Could have dated himself - so hot

Yager - Mike Moore was taken

We hope you have wonderful honeymoons and long and happy lives together.

With all this wedded bliss, we here at LakehillUnited.Blogspot have just two questions:
  1. Who's next? Benny - didn't you catch the garter?
  2. If all the weddings are over for a while, when can we start the roasts?  Shotgun Mike Peters.
Once again - Congratulations to Sam and Kielan!

Mac is Fit: How are You Staying Fit in the Off Season?

With preseason just a week away, we here at Lakehillunited.blogspot thought we'd bring you a reminder to stay in shape during the off season.

Whether you cycle, jog, play badminton, or cross-train - getting good aerobic exercise 2-3 times a week will ensure you return fit as a fiddle for training.

One team member who is a massive proponent of off season training, is none other than Chris "Mac Daddy Make You Jump" MacDonald.  Check out his off season workout in the video below [sound on].

Well played Mac, well played.
